    Description

    A rare half-baht note issued by Japan for use in Thailand during Japan's "intervention" there in World War Two.  A Thai grandma who was a little girl when Japan showed up remembers airplanes flying over, everyone going into shelters, and then coming out.  Later she remembers seeing people in her area trying to buy cigarettes from Japanese soldiers near rice paddies.  This was the middle of the war while Japan was trying to put in a railroad all the way through Southeast Asia through Burma (Myanmar) right into Bangladesh and then India.  Great Britain's worst nightmare.
