Description
This is high quality professional reproduction of an extremely hard-to-find item that has been out of print for about four decades. It now can be purchased for just .95 US Dollars - and with FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!This Kawasaki 500 - H1B Rider's Handbook is correct for the 1972 H1B, and it even includes the hard-to-find fold-out wiring diagram attached inside the rear cover, just like the OEM handbook!
The first six (6) photos in this auction show the reproduction handbook that's for sale; the last photo above shows two original but slightly different H1B rider's handbooks that are NOT for sale. I have chosen to reproduce the "early" version of the handbook; the one that simply called the bike the "disc brake model" H1. The nomenclature on the back cover proves it was printed in January 1972 and inside it features (black and white) pictures of the classic "disc brake model" 1972 H1B. If you are looking for other H1 or H2 Rider's Handbook editions please periodically check my other items for sale. Rider's Handbooks (o
wner's manuals), tool kits, and repair or parts manuals help to complete the vintage motorcycle experience. Shouldn't you purchase this high quality rider's handbook for your legendary Kawasaki 500 H2 Triple Two-Stroke? Even if you own an original copy, you should consider purchasing one of these high quality reproductions to keep on your motorcycle or in the tool box. Then, just store the original in a safe, dry place at home! There are additional details about this replica handbook below, including FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING details. Please read these additional details, but if you have any other questions before making your purchase decision, feel free to contact me.
The basis for this replica manual is an early original 500-H1B Rider's Handbook that was printed in early 1972 according to the nomenclature on the back cover (its part number is 99997-525). The first step in the reproduction process was to make a professional, high-resolution scan of an original that was in good condition. Then, "artwork" was performed on it to remove any visible flaws, smudges, etc... Next, a dilligent search was made to match the quality and color of the paper. In that regard we did the best we could, but I cannot say the color and texture of the cover paper stock is an exact match (see photo on auction). The most challenging part of the reproduction process is related to matching the color and texture of the cover, and after extensive research into paper stocks it was concluded that an exact match of the cover color and texture was not possible. But unlike the dull, faded, stained, and/or ripped and worn covers we are all used to on our original manuals, the cover on this replica is brand new, a very close color match, and it is much more durable. With regard to the cover
a thick, smooth, durable paper was used instead of the thin, porous "construction-paper" like cover of the original that was prone to wear, ripping, and soaking up oil! This reproduction's cover is durable and can even be wiped clean if something spils on it. Once the paper stocks were selected and the books were printed
, they were assembled to match the size and appearance of the original.
This edition is probably the earliest print run of the 500-H1B handbook; note that on the cover it says "500 - H1 Disc Brake Model." In the last photo above you can see this on the original used for this reproduction together with another edition of the H1B handbook that actually says "500 H1-B" on the cover. Other than this minor labeling difference on the cover and some other minor nomenclature differences on the back related to each print run these two books are identical. I chose to reproduce the "disc brake model" handbook because it appears to be the earliest edition, and quite frankly it really is unique. T
his book features a special section to guide you in adjusting the contact breaker points featured on the H1B model, and as such there is no mention of the CDI ignitions that were featured on the other H1 models (see my other items for sale for other H1 and H2 handbook reproductions). This H1B handbook has 51 pages of text and photos plus 5 blank "memo" pages and a fold-out wiring diagram inside the back cover. Since it costs more to make and ship, its price is higher than the early H1 handbook reproductions I sell (27+/- pages and no fold-out wiring diagram).
KAWASAKI COLLECTORS DEMAND THE BEST, SO BASED ON SOME SUGGESTIONS FROM THE TRIPLES COMMUNITY I SHOULD ALSO TELL YOU WHAT THIS HANDBOOK REPRODUCTION IS NOT!
In short, this is not a "blurry" 8.5" X 11" photocopy that was printed from a low-resolution "PDF" that was downloaded off the internet. A key difference between this reproduction and those PDFs is the fact that those PDFs do not feature the wiring diagram like this reproduction. This reproduction handbook has been professionally reproduced to match as many details of the original as possible, to include the size (approx. 4.5" X 7.25"), grade, color, and texture of the paper it's printed on - and again, this reproduction has the unique fold-out wiring diagram inside the back cover!!! The main difference between this reproduction and the original is the texture of the cover. In short, the original is made from a porous construction paper-like material that was prone to fading, wear, tears, etc... However, the cover on this reproduction is a better grade paper that's smooth and water / stain / oil resistant - just wipe it clean! All the artwork (photos, graphics, typeset) and paper stock have been painstakingly reproduced - and all flaws have been removed from the pages.
This replica has no crooked pages; no signs of rips or tears; no fingerprints; no oil and grease marks; no handwriting; no smudged or obscured printing, etc... When comparing this replica to an original the only thing you will notice is that the orignal will look old, worn, and/or faded and this replica looks like a brand new handbook. For example, the size and placing of the staples holding the book together have even been carefully matched!
The interior pages are smooth, glossy, and bright white just like the originals, and they feature crisp vintage photographs.
