    Description

Antique WORKING Columbia Grafonola V- 5  Beautiful Quarter Sawn Oak &  2 Wheels with a Push/ Pull Wood bar for easy relocating in your Home
Antique -circa 1907 - 1915, nicely WORKING Columbia Grafonola V- 5  floor model. This one was handcrafted with extremely beautiful quarter sawn oak on display for all to admire. Two large wheels & wood handle for easy movement. Nice Columbia Grafonola decal inside the top lid. Grafonolas (like their preceder- the Victrola) concealed their speakers inside the wood cabinet.  All set up and ready to play your antique & vintage records. At first, like nearly all other early record players, all Grafonolas were driven by a spring motor that the user had to wind up with a crank before playing a record or two. In 1915, Columbia began to introduce electric-motor-driven models. This Grafonola comes with one record and 100's of needles- approx. 50 are in the four metal needle storage cups and another 100+ are still in unopened paper packets (The estate owners purchased 500 Steel Needles -some loud and some soft tone, along with a new green felt turntable cover back in 1995). It is easy to wind up with the crank for the internal spring, slide the start lever to the right (to START), lift the tone arm and sound box (with a Columbia Grafonola logo inside) and place it down onto the spinning record. Lastly you can adjust the speed til the music sounds perfect. You can turn a metal knob on the upper right side to adjust the volume with the three opening/ closing louvered slats in front. Plenty of storage inside the front cabinet that has 6 shelves. The two large wheels and handle in the back allow for easy movement of your Grafonola from one room of the house/ or offices to another - and then back again. The owners had a Victor Victrola manual in it ( that wasn't printed for this Columbia Grafonola V-5) but it may be of interest. Condition: Overall very good original condition. Some marks, scratches, etc from age/use. Overall excellent piece in working condition and sounds fantastic.
