On another terrific day on the Bay we are indeed delighted to offer this amazing celadon ice crackle craquelure shallow bowl. The glaze is delicate and the finish is pale to deep green. This transparent green glaze is superb in quality; thick and viscous with a well-marked network of fine cracks.
Compounded from violet-golden clay and a mixture of burnt feldspar, limestone, quartz and plant ash, the glaze is prepared from recipes that have often been handed down for generations by teachers or within families.
This piece
is in very good vintage condition. While we found firing contractions common to Asian kiln fired pieces, we did not find evidence of damage. It measures approximately 10” x 10”.
