Description

I have for sale a souvenir medal from the 1889 Piedmont Exposition that was held in Atlanta, Georgia in the Piedmont Park.  The purpose of the exposition was to exhibit the natural resources of the Piedmont region, including Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee & Alabama.  The medal is made of white metal, it is 1 1/4 inch in diameter and in uncirculated condition and it does have a hole at the top rim, as original & a rim ding at the 1864 year.  The obverse in the center shows a Phoenix rising from flames.  Around the Phoenix it reads 1864 RESURGENS 1889 - ATLANTA.  The reverse in the center shows the main building of the exposition and below the building it reads MAIN BUILDING and above the building it reads PIEDMONT EXPOSITION.  At the bottom rim it shows a U.S. shield between four flags. This medal/token is listed in the Standard Catalog of U.S. Tokens as Ga-At 7.  Please see more in my EBAY STORE at TE COLLECTABLES.  (16,848)
