    Description

Presented is a fabulous pair of gold-plated platinum and diamond earrings. These
earrings date to around the 1910s-1920s, and are of American make. The earrings
are very elegant, done in an ear-pendant type of hanging style, with a lovely
eye-catching movement when worn. Each earring is set with 12 diamonds, totaling
about 15-18 points for each earring or at least 30 points for the pair. The
diamonds are vibrant, dazzling stones, with attractive life and sparkle. The
settings are beautifully finished with a rich milgrain finish.
These earrings were originally unplated platinum, but as styles changed over
time and gold finishes became preferable to platinum, someone who wanted to give
new life to their much-loved jewelry had these earrings gold plated. The
milgrain finish and the overall style is much more typical of platinum jewelry
from the 1910s-1920s, but the gold finish makes this a very striking and
interesting pair. The earrings have post backs, for wear with pierced ears.
This pair of earrings is in great condition. The diamonds are all intact and
    well set.
These earrings are not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested them with
nitric acid and found that they are platinum with a yellow gold plating.
Each earring is about 1 1/4 inches long.
The total weight for the pair is 4.6 grams.
