    Description

    This auction is for a
Columbia Graphophone Type Q wind up Cylinder Phonograph with horn
. The last patent date is 1897!
I am a novice, but I was able to play a cylinder. The mechanics of the player seems to work perfectly!  The winding key works perfectly and the stop for the player also functions like it should.
The horn I think is a reproduction, but I am not 100% sure. When I played the record I held the horn next the the mounting piece and was able to hear the record (a little muffled).
The horn was a little tight and did not fit perfectly. Not sure on the quality of the record either.
The player also seems to be in very good cosmetic condition considering others I have seen for sale (See photos). Very little metal rust!
Former owner of this piece was a museum near Schenectady New York (known as the Electric City).
This is truly an amazing invention.
