Description
This rare one-sided 78 from the Columbia Phonograph Co features the song"Good Bye Little Girl, Good Bye"
Gus Edwards, tenor solo and sung by Byron G. Harlan.
It won a grand prize in Paris in 1900 and also in St. Louis in 1904.
The Columbia Phonograph Co was founded in 1917 as an offshoot of the American Columbia Phonograph Company and became an independent British-owned company in 1922.
interestingly, in 1931, Columbia Gramophone in the UK merged with the Gramophone Company which sold records under the HMV label and formed EMI.
I am assuming it was the song and not this recording that won the Grand Prizes listed above as this particular record was not likely released until around 1922.The company had dual offices in London and New York.
